Beat Carnival Presents: Chris Eva's "Bombin', Beats and B-Boys" at T13
Following our sell-out screening of Chris Eva's NI hip-hop documentary at the QFT in June, we're delighted to be bringing you the new edit of his film at a special screening in NI's premier urban culture centre, T13.
For years, filmmaker Eva has recorded Northern Ireland’s growing underground hip-hop scene, where sectarian baggage is left behind and the catchphrase is, “It’s not where you’re from – it’s where you're at.” From old school b-boys to present-day rappers, Eva's film shows how hip-hop and its early proponents were peacemakers in a broken community.
Featured artists include: TMN crew, Belfast City Breakers, Wile Man, Jun Tzu, Bee Mick See, Bad Taste Cru and more.
This screening is part of the Beat Carnival's “Urban Ballet” festival, a week-long international festival of hip-hop music and dance. Large-scale rehearsals for our 100-dancer, 100-drummer Urban Ballet performance will take place in T13's world-class urban space before we take to the streets on Culture Night 2013.
VENUE: T13 Titanic Quarter, Belfast
PRICE: £4 - pay on the door. (Participants of our Urban Ballet project will gain free entry to the screening. Last chance to get involved as a dancer is Sun 15 Sep, and you need to attend the last 3 rehearsals to take part - see www.fb.com/BeatDancerInResidence for info.)
FACILITIES: Drinks & snacks will be available to purchase at the venue. Please dress warmly for this special screening in a massive urban cinema!
