Our director David Boyd and development worker Matt Vernon, along with Beat Carnival board member and Culture Night mastermind, Adam Turkington, recently travelled to the 21st annual meeting of the Banlieues d'Europe network in Saint-Denis (a large suburb of Paris).
On the weekend of the 25th and 26th of October, it was our pleasure to welcome some of our friends up from Dublin Institute of Technology Samba Drumming Society. They had encountered BEATnDRUM performing at the Drogheda Samba Festival 2013 and then met Damian again there this year whilst performing with all Ireland band, Maracatu Ilha Brilhante.
Our Big heads were a huge success at the Newcastle Hallowtides Event on Halloween night. Accompanied by the Sambanimals our section certainly brought the carnival party to town and our performers were swamped with requests for selfies!
We had a great time at an excellent event, lets do it again soon!
The Sambanimals Goblin Army is about to unleash its own brand of avant-guard goblin percussionising on the streets of Newcastle Co.Down.
Being a bunch of Goblins they have been living under bridges and down in the caves since their last appearance at Electric Picnic in August. Now the nights are drawing in they're getting hungry again for some street partying.
