Since 1994 we have been bringing carnival to the streets of Belfast as part of our vision to bring people of all backgrounds together in free, celebratory arts for all. For this year’s carnival, we’re excited to be teaming up with Culture Night Belfast to bring you the final performance of international hip-hop carnival project, Urban Ballet. Performances have already taken place in Portugal, France and South Africa – we’re hosting the finale in Belfast on Fri 20 Sep. We’ve been working with individuals, dance groups, school groups and youth groups since spring – and you can still get involved – up until Sun 15 Sep! See our events page for workshop/rehearsal listings.
You can read about the international Urban Ballet project at http://urbanballets.blogspot.fr/.
Aside from Urban Ballet, we have our locally-focused Big Drums project – showcasing Northern Ireland’s diverse musical history with some seriously big drums!
Anyone still buzzing from Urban Ballet the day after (Sat 21) can go be part of “Hit The North” as an unofficial after party – see this Facebook event for info.
