THE MAGICAL UNICORN
Do you know…
that just over the hills
there is a Magical Forest where rainbows and stars grow?
And in the Forest there lives a Magical Unicorn.
One day Unicorn was thinking about Christmas and of course thinking about presents, when Wise Owl came to visit.
Owl said: “I heard there is a Great Christmas Tree in a Great Road, somewhere beyond the Magical Forest. We must see that Tree: let’s go out of the Forest and into the streets – and we’ll share rainbows and stars, with all the people we meet!”
So one night before Christmas, Magical Unicorn and the Magical Forest friends gathered gifts and set off over the hills,
singing a song as they went:
“We’ll lift up lanterns, shine light for our feet;
Share magic tonight, with people we meet!
We’ll lift up lanterns, to make the night bright;
And we’ll fill the street with music and light!”

WORKSHOPS PROGRAMME
There are workshops provided by Beat Carnival to make lanterns – and we have design sheets with ideas for Unicorn torches that you can make at home.
This year there is also an opportunity for some people to be involved in making the parade’s main feature, a Magical Unicorn float.
Other people can produce Forest Animals or a Magical Forest painted backdrop.

ON FRIDAY 30TH
• Music and dance performances on stage at the Christmas Tree: starting with music by VIXEN at 6:30pm. The stage programme continues until the Lights Switch-On.
• The Magical Unicorn Lantern Parade begins at 6:45 from Townsend Street and will arrive at the Christmas Tree around 7:15.
• Christmas Tree Lights Switch-On at 8:15.
