On St Patrick’s Day celebrate what it is to be alive in this great city of arts & culture with a carnival cavalcade of our vibrant musical stories. A theatrical pageant of pop, punk, pomp and even disco, The Voice of Belfast will be a symphony of people & costume, music & dance, circus & theatre telling a story of sound & song bringing us together, reminding of what it means to be a creative Belfast.
Looking from history to future, there’s another story to tell, voices we want the 2023 parade to express. 25 years have passed since the Belfast Good Friday Agreement, an agreement that we would speak and listen in a spirit of sharing and reconciliation, reaching towards peace and understanding. We will gather 25-year-old young adults and ask: what has the process from the day after the Agreement meant for them? Having grown-up in that significant space of time, what are their reflections and what hopes will they tell in this Anniversary year?
On 17th March we will raise our voices, sing our song along the wide, open streets of Chichester & Victoria, High Street & Royal Avenue, to City Hall finalé. On St Patrick’s Day let’s make a dance to future days and a drum that beats for all!
This movie gives a taste of our ‘Voices Of Belfast’ music theme and invites young adults born at the momentous time of the Belfast Good Friday Agreement, to join in the Parade. 25 years have passed since entering into the post-GFA era. A group of 25-year-olds will gather at Beat to talk, think, share and make some art: having grown-up in that significant space of time, what are their reflections and what hopes will they tell in this Anniversary year? PROJECT 25 is starting at St Patrick’s Day and will continue into 2023.
