European Maracatu Encontro in Belfast, 17 - 19 June
Masters Nation II: Registration details can be found > here
The Beat Carnival had invited European Maracatu drumming groups to come together for training workshops and a combined performance in the what was anticipated to be the next annual Belfast City Carnival in June. Now, with the absence of the Belfast Carnival, the European Encontro in Belfast is still running, though at a reduced level and different location. See programme details in the News section.
Spirit of Encontro… and Connections
The Beat Initiative (Beat Carnival) is hosting the Maracatu Encontro as part of our
Liftoff project in the LTUK Connections programme.
We hope that the encontro will inspire further drumming connections in 2012 and coming years.
Liftoff is a skills development; art & sport connections; and community engagement project that Beat has been operating since 2009.
